Motorcycle police of the 1980s cut a dashing figure in leather jackets, riding breeches, high boots, and Bell helmets. This Vintage 1985 BELL SB-104 GOLD & BLACK MOTORCYCLE POLICE HELMET is in excellent condition, with some light scattered scratching and surface chipping around the exterior, some reddish fading to the lining, moderate tearing to the right side lining, moderate chipping along the front crown padding, the interior top crown foam pad remaining completely loose and able to moved around or removed entirely, missing the Bell maker’s tag from the inside, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the helmet is in excellent shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage to the tough fiberglass construction, which retains approximately 95% of the crisp, original glossy gold and black exterior finish. Most interestingly, it’s approximately a Size 7 1/2, bears an elegant Lieutenant’s gold bar rank insignia crisply stenciled at the front crown, and sports the classic metallic gold hatband with “P” for Police embossed gilt brass side buttons across the top of the integral front visor. It carries a crisp “DOT” information decal at the lower back, features the original black rubber edge rim, black leatherette and black nylon chinstraps with a dual metal “D” ring closure buckle, black velour lining, and black styrofoam crown padding, and exhibits “BELL / SB-104 / USA” stamped on the right chinstrap, along with the date, “9 85″ (September 1985).
